Board Development

NSG believes an effective board provides a foundation for the mission of the organization and a framework of expectations that make it possible for the management, staff and volunteers to focus upon the day-to-day tasks of making that mission a reality.

Simply put, without a strong board nonprofit organizations rarely have success in meeting both client and community needs.

Building an effective board is like creating a winning sports team.  Recruiting talented players that fit the team, and training them to play their best, is key.  Even the best of teams experience challenges, so providing a playbook of policies to build unity and enthusiasm for the mission and define how conflict will be resolved will go a long way toward making sure that the board fulfills its purpose.

NSG works with your organization's leadership to strategically build and grow your board.  And we help you develop your playbook so your members feel confident in the organization's short- and long-term goals, budgetary outlook and their roles in advancing the issues that drew them to serve in the first place.

Did You Know?

In the early stages of the 1984 general election major polls showed Ronald Reagan's re-election bid down double-digit points.  With Ed Rollins as Reagan's National Campaign Director the campaign recovered to win one of the most amazing election victories in American history, turning that 18-point deficit into an 18 percent advantage in the popular vote.  On Election Day the campaign won 49 out of 50 states and the highest number of electoral votes ever in the Electoral College.
