Ladies and gentlemen, I posit to you:  has there every been a more bone-headed move than House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's decision to order up not one, but two, count 'em, two additional luxury executive Gulfstream jets for assorted Congressfolks to cavort around the world in?

Consider the timing:  in the midst of a job-killing recession and an exploding deficit ... in the wake of withering attacks by lawmakers and even the president on corporate executives for enjoying just such perks ... with a compensation czar looking over the shoulders of the bosses of government-controlled companies ... with approval ratings of both the Democratic Congress and the party's rookie president plummeting like the proverbial rocks ... and perhaps worst of all, in the heat of a busy flying summer with the "commoners" sweatily queuing up in long security lines at airports around the country.

One can just hear Queen Nancy sneering:  "Let them fly coach."

What I can't figure out is whether Her Highness and her cohort are that arrogant, that clueless or simply out of their minds.   But I can tell you this:  this misstep could be the straw ... nay, the beam ... that breaks the camel's back for a public already at the edge over being sold a bill of goods by this Congress and Administration.

This is precisely the kind of perception nightmare of an out-of-touch, corrupt kleptocracy ... think House Bank/Post Office or Abramoff ... that could, and I believe will lead to electoral disaster for the party in power.  The GOP dare not fumble this one ... they need to isolate themselves from any involvement in this looming Con(gress)Air Scandal and make sure this debacle is laid entirely on the designer-clad shoulders of the Speaker and her team.
