History of the Game

Chess is a game of strategy and tactics, dating back centuries.  Organized, international chess has been around since the 15th century and today is one of the world's most popular games.  The game spans the globe and increases in popularity in part because of its adaption to the 21st century by making use of modern technology, allowing players from Bangkok to Bangor, Maine to compete with each other across the Internet.

Chess is a sophisticated and challenging game requiring a long-term strategy and implementation of tactics in pursuit of the ultimate objective — checkmating your opponent.  But sometimes even the best chess strategy may have to be adjusted as the game changes or your opponent provides an opening.

At New Strategies Group we see the parallels between chess and the approach to finding and executing successful business, political and non-profit solutions.  Just as in chess, we believe it's imperative to create an innovative, long-term strategic plan and execute transformative tactics designed to win the game.

Symbolism of the Chess Knight

The chess knight, which represents the armored cavalry, is the most unique and flexible of all pieces on the chessboard.  It's the only piece that can jump over other pieces and the only piece that can move at the beginning of the game before any pawn move has been made.

The knight is intended to protect the primary pieces — king, queen and bishops.  It should always be close to where the action is, "a knight on the rim is dim."  New Strategies Group, serving as your knight, is always where the action is, there to protect you when it matters most.

In the early stages of the 1984 general election major polls showed Ronald Reagan's re-election bid down double-digit points.  With Ed Rollins as Reagan's National Campaign Director the campaign recovered to win one of the most amazing election victories in American history, turning that 18-point deficit into an 18 percent advantage in the popular vote.  On Election Day the campaign won 49 out of 50 states and the highest number of electoral votes ever in the Electoral College.
